'Im Every Woman' is presented as an ultra low-fi adaptation of the Youtube music still image. We see the character slowly breaking down in their composure, showing the viewer the deterioration in holding ones expressions. Demonstrating an manic-ness from something once outwardly positive.

The dress and stool were constructed for the live performance of the video performance. Presented like a re-shooting of the video, with an audience.

With a low-fi aesthetic echoing the process of fabricating the textiles was created by feeding pre-cut patterns which could be no wider than a piece of A4 paper, through a standard Epson printer. Yet the length could be a continuous feed, allowing long narrow panels of graduating colour and tones to be manufactured with something that was to hand and not made to handle such tasks. Which gave the ink a jolt of linear variables 
which echoes the nature of paused video or disturbance in video.

'Phantom',  black carousel, 'spook' figure, music, 2011.

A balance occurs between the dictators persona of the 'Oman' and the reflective quality of the 'Phantom' carousel, which shows the hidden side of the narcissist's ego. 'Oman' is the body, 'Phantom' is the pond. The carousel is the passive and victimised aspect of the narcissist. It refers to the medical inquiry into the narcissistic state. Playing with the tension that lies between understanding varieties of the condition; homosexual and heterosexual, male and female. The 'spook' is a need for the narcissist, they require the creature to act as support, a constant feed of reassurance and indulgence. The creature's physiology is in flux, battling contradictions. Having Hypertrichosis (wolf-boy syndrome) and a hair condition called Alopecia. Sympathy is felt for the spook but the viewer also is comprehends the difference and maintains a sense of reservation. It has been put on a pedestal acknowledging its 'freak' like persona reminiscent of fun fairs of the past. It points to a notion of joviality and sadness. The carousel is a stage, a theater, a spectacle echoed within the egotistic persona of the 'Oman'.  All the while a ghostly 'I Just Want To Make Love To You' chimes away, the carousels melody.

[ OMAN ]



                       Oman,  Crete Tower, Hanging Curtain, Hanging Lamp, 2011.

As you enter the space, echoing music surrounds the room; a slowed gothic version of Etta James 'I Just Want To Make Love To You' penetrates your core, you are unwelcomely met by a oppressive gaze from your host. Similar to a Nazi style banner draped over buildings. The same is true with the proportions of this textile. 'Oman' is the main body to which the animal prays upon its victims for 'narcissistic supply', striving to be the polar opposite of the conventional stereotype, the piece is a two sides coin. He is both victim and oppressor. The creature in the image is the predator and dictator of the narcissistic ego, acting as an opposite to the 'Phantom' carousel. It is to be viewed as almost a propagandist visual, representative of narcissism.

The character was the creature born from the destruction of the Black Jimmy. Born evil as her Mother - Miss Haversham desperate for a female child to nourish to hate men from her previous life of being jilted at the alter. The creature has killed another of her own kind, and seems unfazed and ambivalent of her act. The reference of the image was taken from Joseph Beuys' "How to Explain Pictures to a Dead Hare".

The damage girls, Amy Winehouse's fight with Blake, Britney spears wearing no underwear and flashing, and Kate Moss taking coke are all the re-enactments of these girls actions in drag. These images were the starting point for "bird" photograph, while the title a reference to the nick-name give in Scottish language, Creating myth and humor while being morbid and mixing contracts are at the center of my practice as an artist.

The drawing carries many layers of historical and personal the romanticist period in art - (romanticism is the idea of raw earth, for example highland Scotland, where bearded men live in the woods scavenging food and live rough) And i wanted to contrast that with having something and loosing it to.... having hair and the loose of also. The picture I used David when he was six year old - the year I was born... So its a drawing of my brother David , and my friend Jeniffer's hair condition alopica, and a self portrait .

Jimmy's are the name given to the hollow double sided key stone shapes. The keystone carry's a long and important history with them. Said to be found in Salomon's death tomb architecture before this shape was found was all straight, it also is a key part to the Freemasons theology. While Jimmy's are opposite mirrors of each other from each end, they both fight in being one thing, both at the same time. The sculpture is a story about birth, creation from destruction. When the stones are fixes together side by side they count five, rigid and strong - but for a keystone to be hollow the structure is in fact weak and parcel to collide. Therefore if the key strength is weak the two sides would collapse giving birth to destruction and a new age of sometime new. To make the cycle / circle harmonious again another Jimmy needs to be created / born. Giving the circle another generation of life. The image of Botticelli masterpiece "Birth of Venus" 1485 was also a key reference to this sculpture. The construction also brings up stereotypes of male and female - the contrasting opposites. the making of the Jimmy's being the male construction of craft in wood. While the delicate stitching work of the fabric penises.
